The Carver-Price Alumni Association was formed in December 2003 as a non profit organization. In addition to administering the Scholarship program which provides scholarships, to graduates of Appomattox County High School who have been selected to a college, university or trade school, based on need, the Alumni Association in 2008 realized one of its goals when the Carver-Price Legacy Museum was opened to honor the legacy of the former Rosenwald school, Carver-Price. The Alumni Association controls the operation of the Museum,
Yearly, beginning in March we start planning for our scholarship drive. Letters are mailed to all alumni for whom we have addresses soliciting donations for the year's scholarship fund. Our applications are mailed out to the school counselors in April. Completed applications are picked up and evaluated. A representative of the Alumni Association awards the scholarships at the school on awards day.
We try to help as many graduates as possible with the monies we receive in our donation drive. Our scholarships are normally a one time stipend.
We usually give out about $4,000 to $5,000 a year in amounts of $800.00 to $1,000.
